Business Provocative Thursdays

Thursdays on Paper, Planes & Pinot are supposed to be dedicated to Travel Thursday posts.  This week I am making an exception.  Why?!  To introduce you to Business Provocative Thursdays… THAT’S WHY!

Now before you start freaking out wondering, ‘What happened to Travel Thursdays!?’ Don’t worry, this is a one time thing.  Travel Thursdays will return.

Onto educating you about Business Provocative Thursdays.

I cannot take the credit for establishing this weekly holiday.  One of my best friends, who I affectionately refer to as GIRL, and I thought that we needed something to spice up the monotonous workweek.

GIRL and I backing it up.

GIRL and I backing it up.

We missed the days of college when we got to plan what to wear to our weekly themed sorority social.  We missed the inevitable fact that the more skanky you dressed, the more you seemed to grasp the essence of that week’s theme.  Basically, we hated that our hard earned money now was going towards buying new work appropriate outfits rather than more revealing clothing.

Our solution? Establishing Business Provocative Thursdays.  Duh.

Business Provocative Thursdays are exactly what they sound like.  Instead of dressing Business Professional, GIRL and I decided that we would dedicate Thursdays to dressing provocatively at work.

Business Provocative Thursdays can be defined with the following equation:

You + Thursday + Slightly provocatively clothing in the workplace = Business Provocative Thursdays

You can also abbreviate and use #bpt when posting about this weekly holiday.

GIRL and I are not coming into work on Thursdays wearing fishnets and pasties.  Our sorority taught us well.  We know how to stay within the lines of classy.

When you choose to join the BPT movement, the below can be used as inspiration:

  • Lace
  • Animal Print
  • Sheer

I am not going to lie: BPT in the winter is a lot easier for me.  I have tons of skirts that are a bit too short.  I pair those skirts with black tights and/or knee high boots and I am good to go!  In the summer, do not put it past me to wear a shirt as a dress on BPT.  That is one of the blessings of being short.  Some shirts are legit dresses on me.  Albeit they are short dresses, but dresses nonetheless.

Guys can even join the movement.  For guys it is a little easier, just wear that tie and unbutton the top button a bit. Just wearing that tie will get girls thinking about how they want you to go 50 Shades of Grey on them.

Business Provocative Thursdays should be taken very seriously.  DO NOT go overboard.  I will not be responsible for your call into the Ethics Office.  Choose to match that animal print with nice slacks.  Wear a crewneck sweater when choosing to wear a lace skirt.  Remember:  Short skirts and plunging necklines together in one outfit may get you unwanted attention.

Most importantly, save your provocative acts for out of work locations and after work hours.

Don’t think twice about wearing that skirt that is only a few inches too short.  It is okay to “accidentally” forget to secure the top 3 buttons of your top.

Join the Movement!

Happy Business Provocative Thursday from GIRL and I!
